Werkheim Uster promotes quality of life and self-determination for people with cognitive disabilities, offering accommodation, employment and training opportunities, as well as support to enable them to lead self-determined and meaningful lives. This also includes the provision of integrated work placements at a partner company. This form of work offers integration into a business in the open labour market within a supported environment: as part of a group and with the guidance of a specialist. The Werkheim staff arrive at the workplace independently in the morning. They mingle with the others – they have their morning snack and lunch together.
The key requirement is the output of finished workpieces per week. Working on-site offers a further advantage: the quality of the work carried out can be directly monitored and any errors addressed swiftly. Furthermore, there is no need to deliver semi-finished products, materials or tools to other sites; everything remains on-site. This also reduces transport distances and benefits the environmental footprint.
We take plenty of time for induction. Anyone interested can also come along for a three-week taster period first. It’s important that people have the chance to get a feel for things at their own pace and see if they feel at home. We’re happy to give them this time, because in this collaboration, everyone wins. We’re delighted when people feel at home with us, and our customers are delighted with beautiful deckchairs, lovingly upholstered.
