Courrendlin School Building II

The new secondary school in Courrendlin is a remarkable hybrid structure in which wood and concrete complement one another as synergistic materials. Insulated timber elements provide vertical support for the ceilings and create a pleasant indoor climate, whilst the connection to the load-bearing concrete structure creates a clean boundary with the exterior. The linear architecture and minimalist design, combining timber and concrete, allow Embru’s school furniture – which has always been formally striking – to integrate perfectly into the space whilst also meeting specific requirements.
