XCarb^® – on the path to net-zero steel

Embru has a strong sense of responsibility towards the environment and society and therefore, out of conviction, sources XCarb^® steel to help shape the transition to a climate-neutral industry.

Our aim is to reduce CO₂ emissions and make measurable progress towards climate-neutral steel.

The three pillars of the XCarb initiative:

Recycled and produced using renewable energy

XCarb® products are made from recycled steel and are produced using 100 % renewable electricity in an electric arc furnace. They have a very low carbon footprint and are now also available for flat products. The renewable energy is independently certified.

Steel certificates

With the XCarb® Steel Certificates, customers can report Scope 3 emissions in accordance with the GHG Protocol. They are based on CO₂ savings from innovative blast furnace projects such as Torero and Carbalyst® and are independently verified by DNV GL.
