Four years after the launch of ‘Park Chair’ and ‘Easy Aluminium’ (2022), Embru is presenting two new designs for the home and contract sectors. On the one hand, the new ‘Patio Chair’ lounge chair by Moritz Schmid is being unveiled, alongside the ‘Kunz Table’, designed by architect Peter Kunz.

Kunz Table

Embru’s new table for indoor and outdoor use was designed by architect Peter Kunz and bears the designer’s name: the ‘Kunz Table’. Its three-legged construction alone makes it a standout piece. Flowing forms also characterise its appearance: the ‘Kunz Tisch’ is shaped into a perfect sphere from the tabletop through the legs to the feet. This gives it a friendly and graphic – almost cartoon-like – look, which immediately endears the piece to those who see it.

The table will be available in both round and classic square shapes. Depending on the intended use, a lightweight aluminium version or a particularly robust steel variant is available. The product range is complemented by a low lounge table and a high bar table, which echo the design’s characteristic aesthetic and open up further possibilities for outdoor use. Three carefully coordinated colour options round off the range.

Patio Chair

In June 2026, Embru will present the ‘Patio Chair’ by Moritz Schmid. In terms of design, the new chair builds on the ‘Park Chair’, which was awarded the Swiss Design Prize in 2023. Following three years of development work in close collaboration with the designer, the result is a lounge chair with a tubular steel frame that continues Embru’s characteristic blend of structural clarity and tubular steel construction.

The design is based on a modular construction and features a specially developed, technically sophisticated solution for accommodating different seat surfaces. This principle follows the ‘Design for Repair’ approach and offers a high degree of flexibility, particularly in the contract sector. Individual components can be easily replaced or repaired as required, thereby extending the product’s service life and conserving resources. The Patio Chair is also manufactured in Switzerland – at the Rüti factory. Embru has been producing furniture in the Zurich Oberland for more than 100 years.
